The Jalingo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward returning officers, who oversaw the recent bye-election for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency Seat, have cleared the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government, Aminu Hassan Jauro, of allegations of fund diversion.
At a press briefing held in Jalingo, the state capital, on Monday, the PDP ward returning officers refuted claims of fund misappropriation against Chairman Aminu Hassan Jauro. They emphasized that there was no evidence of funds allocated to returning officers being diverted by the Chairman.
Nasiru Mustapha, the spokesperson for the group and the PDP returning officer for Turaki A Ward, dismissed the circulating misinformation as the handiwork of individuals discontented with the harmonious relationship between Chairman Jauro and Governor Agbu Kefas.
Mustapha clarified, “The allowances for the ten wards’ returning officers of the PDP in the 2nd February 2024 bye-election for Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing Federal Constituency were not included in the payment templates during the election process, a matter known to all parties involved.”
He attributed the delay in payment to procedural issues and absolved Chairman Jauro of any wrongdoing, noting his commitment to transparency and ethical standards in governance.
The group also refuted claims made by Engr. Sadiq Abbas Tafida, stating that no confirmation had been made regarding the allocation of allowances to either the Chairman or the PDP Chairman of Jalingo Local Government.
Mustapha concluded by asserting that the accusations stemmed from personal grievances of disgruntled individuals who failed to secure positions or appointments within the Jalingo Local Government administration.
