The Bauchi State Police Public Relation Officer SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil has disclosed that a team of detectives attached to ‘C’ Division Headquarters in collaboration with a quasi-security outfit on a visibility policing patrol have arrested 5 suspects namely, Musbahu Umar ‘m’ aged 23yrs of Tirwun area Bauchi, Salim Hamisu ‘m’ aged 30yrs, Sadiq Nura AKA Abba ‘m’ aged 22yrs, Abubakar Aliyu ‘m’ aged 22yrs and Mohammed Mohammed AKA Abba ‘m’ aged 20yrs. They were arrested for connived with other members of their gang to terrorize Bauchi communities, particularly Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters on 23 January 2024 at about 0300hrs and confess during interrogation.
He said that, investigation revealed that one suspect from Kano State rented two (2) houses at Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters on getting to Bauchi through one Jamilu Isah ‘m’ of ‘Yankaba and connive with other members of the gang to terrorize Bauchi communities, particularly Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters.
The suspects armed with dangerous weapons criminally conspired among themselves and trespassed into a house belonging to one Dr. Kabiru Umar of Shehu Wunti Quarters Bauchi, attempted to rob him of his car, a Peugeot dark-blue in color and other valuable items. But they were chased and arrested.
Items recovered from them were 2 empty white leaders of new machetes, 1 Hunda Car ignition key and 2 Qlink motorcycle ignition keys. SP Ahmed said investigation is ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining gang members, after which the suspects will be profiled and charged to court for the established offenses.
