Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari who announced All Progressives Congress’s Candidate winner of the gubernatorial elections in Adamawa supplementary elections.
This was revealed by Force Public Relations Office CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in Abuja today as, Police promised to interrogate other officials and individuals culpable in the saga.
You may recall that his arrest and Investigation was called for by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the basis of alleged impropriety in the course of supplementary gubernatorial polls in the State. CSP Adejobi revealed that “Barrister Ari was arrested by the Police Election Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Team in Abuja on Tuesday 2nd May, 2023 and he is currently in Police custody to ascertain the motives and motivations behind his alleged improper actions during the supplementary elections in Adamawa State”.
However, Inspector-General of Police, Alkali has given clear assurance that every individual involved/indicted in the matter will be apprehended and investigated in line with the provisions of the law for possible prosecution. IGP Alkali also assured Nigerians that justice will be served in the case and that all guilty parties will be brought to justice.
