As the movement towards primary election continues to draw near in Edo State, Aspirants of All Progressive Congress are speaking on their intentions as they return Governorship nomination forms to the party office in Abuja. It was turn of Honorable Dennis Idahosa to submit and shortly after his submission, he climbed press podium giving details of his plans for people in Edo State.
Speaking of his intentions, Hon Idahosa revealed that he will face insecurities that people of the state are battling with. He said,
“I made it clear to my Edo people during the course of consultations that I will take care of the issue of insecurity in my state by collaborating with all the security agencies across the state, because majority of our state people are farmers as we speak, we can no longer go to farm as a result of farmers and herders crises but as a governor, I will do that by the grace of God”.
“I will collaborate with all the security agencies to ensure that the land is safe and secure for parents to go back to farm let me tell you a synopsis about myself and my House of Representative member.
I’m currently the chairman healthcare services in House of Representative and this is my second time and also with the support of God and the people of Edo, I will be contesting for the office of the governor in Edo state to reclaim the mandate that we lost to PDP back to our great state. Our party is very healthy, very safe and ready to reclaim this mandate. With the support of Edo people and all the critical stakeholders. I’m very certain that we will reclaim a new state back to our great party.”
Speaking further, Hon Idahosa promised Edo people that he will ensure that there is local government autonomy to ensure that most of the money appropriated for local government actually used in the various local government, because as it stands in Edo right now, the current state government led by PDP government gives stipends to local government chairmen to do minor things and at the end of the day nothing has been done. He said “but under my watch as a governor, I will ensure that money appropriated to local government actually get to them”.
Also, revealed that “we are currently having some issues with the state government trying to interfere with issues of traditional institutions under my watch as a governor of Edo State by the grace of God, I will ensure that I protect and respect our traditional institution.
Responding to his stewardship in National Assembly currently, Hon Idahosa disclosed that He has moved about 31 motions and sponsor about 17 bills, one of which is beneficiary to his constituency. He said ” one of it is Ovia river bridge that was causing a lot of accidents about a year ago due to bad spot in the Ovia river bridge, I moved the motion, FEMA fixed the bridge and there’s no more casualty in that axis . Also it might interest you to know that I have facilitated not less than 124 projects within the space of four years as a legislator, representing the good people of Ovia Federal Constituency. So to me, is not about coming to the media to speak, it is about your people feeling the impact of your representation in your constituency.
However Hon Idahosa disclosed that he has good relationship with Senator Oshiomole but never told him to be anointed for the Governorship race, He said
“If you say I’m anointed, maybe anointed by God, nobody has told me. Senator Adams Aliyu Oshimole is the leader of our party and He’s highly respected in our state because of all he has done as a governor. And so He’s our leader, but he has not told me that I’m anointed except the fact that God has anointed me to govern the good people of Edo State .
