The Director Defence Media Operations Majour Gen. Edward Babu has disclosed that troops of the joint task force, operation Safe Haven in north central Nigeria have recovered 3 Ak-47 rifles, one fabricated Ak-47 rifle, one fabricated pistol, 41 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammo among other items.
This was made known during a media briefing held at the defence headquarter in Abuja on 30th August 2023.
Maj. Gen Babu also revealed that the joint task force of Operation Delta safe in the south south region Nigeria carried out operations, destroyed 71 dugout pits, 36 boats, 83 storage tanks among other items.
The air component was not left out in the operation as they conducted air interdictions over active illegal refining sites at Abisse and Idama as all targets were engaged with cannons and rockets, destroying the equipment and reservoirs.
He said, in addition, an air component destroyed a boat fully loaded with illegally refined products sighted within the area as the boat was attacked with rockets.
569,400 liters of stolen crude oil, 486,000 liters of illegally refined AGO and 56,500 liters of PMS also were recovered while 16 suspected oil thieves were arrested .
However, Maj. Gen Buba said the military will continue to pursue aggressive military operations against violent antagonist groups, seeking to undermine the security of the country and conduct violence against the citizens.
